Meet the Astronaut of the Day at any of the following opportunities: Astronaut Encounter During these presentations, hear from the Astronaut of the Day about his or her unique experience living and working in space. Have your questions ready after the presentation. Astronaut Encounter is included with admission. Chat With An Astronaut Enjoy a sampling of food and beverages while having a small-group conversation with the Astronaut of the Day about what it is really like to live and work in space. Chat With An Astronaut can be purchased in addition to admission. Autograph signings get the astronaut s autograph at The Space Shop and Shuttle Express at various times during the day. See the Daily Schedule for the times for each when you arrive. About Terrence "Terry" Wilcutt: Terrence Terry Wilcutt, a decorated astronaut with over 1,007 hours in space, has piloted and commanded multiple missions, earning numerous accolades for his exceptional contributions to space exploration, including the NASA Distinguished Service Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Selected by NASA in 1990, Terry Wilcutt became an astronaut in 1991 and has since logged over 1,007 hours in space across four missions. His technical assignments included work on Space Shuttle Main Engine and External Tank issues, supporting launches and landings at Kennedy Space Center, and addressing technical issues for the Astronaut Office Operations Development Branch. He also served as NASA Director of Operations at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia, Chief of the Astronaut Office Shuttle Operations Branch, and Manager of Safety & Mission Assurance for the Space Shuttle Program. Wilcutt piloted STS-68 and STS-79, and commanded STS-89 and STS-106. Notably, STS-68 focused on environmental monitoring, while STS-79 and STS-89 involved Shuttle-Mir dockings, transferring supplies and personnel. STS-106 prepared the International Space Station for its first permanent crew, including a spacewalk to connect essential systems. Currently, Wilcutt serves as Director of the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate at Johnson Space Center.
