The FAA not only supports NTSB-led Investigations as a party member, it also conducts independent, parallel investigations to ensure Continual Operational Safety (COS) in an effect to prevent the next accident. Daily, AVP-100 monitors and tracks every aviation accident or incident that occurs domestically, or involves a US registered aircraft abroad. AVP-100 staff enter preliminary accident data in the Preliminary Accident/Incident Database, which is shared with the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program.
