Museum of Aviation: Family Aviation Day
Family Aviation Day will be held at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, Georgia, on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 9:00am until 4:00pm.  Come on out and get to know Robins Air Force Base units and those who serve our country.    Parking: Parking will be across the street at Anchor Glass and busses will be available throughout the event.    During this free event you will see helicopters all throughout the campus that will have already arrived for this special event.  You will have the chance to meet the crews and the opportunity for some great photo-ops!  Your family and friends can walk through specific aircraft and climb into specific open cockpits.  Learn about the Museum s premier aircraft exhibits (four climate controlled buildings), and experience fun STEM activities.  Knowledgeable guides will be available throughout the Museum to share information about the airplanes, and select airplane fuselages and cockpits will be opened for viewing on this special day.   Visitors can expect to have interaction with pilots and crew members, as well as have many fun photo opportunities with the exhibits.  Younger visitors will enjoy Stomp Rockets, Model Glider Flights, and other free activities.    The Museum of Aviation is one of ten exciting stops on Georgia s WWII Heritage Trail.  Visitors will be invited to experience WWII aircraft and exhibits located in the Museum s Scott Exhibit Hangar   Building 3. The  Scott Hangar  named after Gen. Robert Scott, author of God is My Co-Pilot, contains numerous World War II aircraft and displays about the conflict. This hangar also includes exhibits about the Tuskegee Airmen and the 507th Airborne Division. The Museum is restoring a B-17 in the exhibit space so that visitors can see the process, as well as see the amazing B-17 up close.    Helicopters    TH-1H Huey: a refurbished model of a Vietnam era helicopter used to train USAF student pilots    AH-1 Cobra: a single-engine USAF attack helicopter    Bell 407 (Georgia Forestry): a single-engine civil utility helicopter that supports GA Dept of Natural Resources in law enforcement activities including search and rescue, hunting and boating enforcement, and special operations    Bell 206 (Air Evac): a two-bladed, single engine, medically equipped helicopter with advanced safety systems that supports civil medical response missions    Bell 407 (Georgia State Patrol Aviation): a single-engine civil utility helicopter that provides air support in the interest of public safety for the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division    Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane: a twin-engine civil heavy-lift helicopter capable of lifting payloads up to 20,000lbs    (Tentative) HH-60W Pave Hawk: a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-lift utility USAF helicopter
