Flying VFR at Night, What Happens When the Horizon Goes Away? Flying at night on a moon less night over the water may not be the best idea. What happens when the horizon just blends in and you cannot discern what is the horizon? The weather may be clear but you may find yourself in the infamous VFR flight into IMC conditions. What would you do? Please come and be ready to discuss illusions with night flying and the hazards associated with flying at night. EAA/VMC Club, through the EAA's global Chapter structure, provides organized "hangar flying" focused on building flying knowledge and skills. The program's network promotes a safety culture through continued education and believes that we develop safety and proficiency through education and real life experience. Monthly meetings offer an opportunity to share in-flight experiences and valuable safety tips. Through the FAA Safety Program, aviation professionals provide informative WINGS presentations. Lets look at ways we can keep our flying skills up to par and more importantly have some fun while doing it. Training and fun, not often known as something that goes together very well. We can put together scenarios and training that mimics what we really do on our daily flights. Instilling fun and maybe a little bit of competition can help ensure we develop our flying and keep our skills sharp and confidence high while we fly!
