The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) has analyzed a number of General Aviation accidents having a common cause; accidents due to inaccurate and /or unreasonable expectations with regard to aircraft performance. These accidents are occurring in the takeoff and initial climb (departure) phases of flight and are likely to be fatal. This presentation will refresh GA pilots knowledge of critical aircraft performance parameters and the importance of accurately predicting aircraft performance - particularly with a loss of power in the Takeoff and departure flight phases.
