What it means to Think outside the Box You are in command of a Very Light Jet enroute to a sometimes busy airport with a long runway in the middle of a wide valley surrounded by mountainous terrain. Local Conditions are: Sky obscured, marginal visibility and light winds. The flow of traffic as advertised on the ATIS suggests your approach options will require significant maneuvering at lower altitudes. You know the valley is generously wide but the marginal visibility obscures the terrain that you also know is out there, all around you, and will soon become a significant factor. How do you intend to work with ATC to get on the ground safely? Will you simply go with the flow and DO what ATC WANTS in the spirit of Go along to Get along? Or, do you have the foresight to take off the blinders, Think outside the Box and make good use of the utility of Final Authority to TELL ATC what you NEED? Join us tonight as we contemplate the flight planning considerations many pilots overlook when it comes to transitioning from enroute to approach and approach to the runway. Discover the benefits of Final Authority along with your well-equipped panel to plan and execute this mission. Master a confluence of fundamentals you are already familiar with. However, you may have never considered using those fundamentals in concert in any particular application. Learn how and why holding out your hand to ATC and expecting to be taken by the hand could easily box you into a canyon you would prefer to avoid. This seminar is scheduled for 2.0 hours.
