Takeoff and landing accidents account for nearly half of all GA Accidents. Why is that? Is it that pilots are not proficient? Is it that pilots forget the basics? Maybe because they don't have a plan. Most of us were not trained to do a pre-landing briefing. You may never have heard the term before. We need an actual plan on how the pilot will execute each approach and landing, including the touchdown point, based on the current situation. Speaker Bio: Elaine Kauh, CFII, FAASTeam lead representative, and corporate pilot, is a six-time Master CFI with over 3,800 hours of dual given. She provides instruction in high-performance and tailwheel airplanes, flies corporate aircraft, and presents pilot seminars in collaboration with her FAASTeam colleagues in Wisconsin. She s also a skilled instrument instructor and a contributing editor to IFR magazine. She especially enjoys teaching emergency procedures and training future CFIs, providing stall/spin endorsements in a Super Decathlon.
