KIWS - West Houston
Know your limits, know your aircraft s limits, and know how to recover should you exceed them. This three-part seminar is built around understanding the angle of attack, the dynamics of slow speed handling and maneuvering, stall avoidance, recovery, and spin recovery. 10:00 - Gary Whitfield (CFI, CFII, ATP, USAF IP, Corporate pilot, Northwestern and Delta Airlines Captain, Express Jet ground instructor) will discuss slow speed handling and maneuvering, stall awareness, and why it's important to understand exactly what your aircraft's capabilities are. 11:00 - Tim Short (CFI, ATP, USAF, Continental Airlines Captain, Express Jet Captain, and ground instructor) will continue with stall awareness, specifically Angle of Attack (AOA). Tim has been an advocate of AOA for GA since 2010 and will discuss the concept and usage of the AOA indicators available for today's GA pilots. Noon - Bruce Bohannon (CFI, ATP, Aircraft Builder, Flyin' Tiger Flying School owner, Reno Air Racer, multiple Aviation World Records, Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, aviator extraordinaire) will talk about spins - how to recognize them, how to handle them, how to get out of them, and how to enjoy them.
