Human Factors - Lessons Learned from Being an On-Demand Charter Pilot This scenario begins like all good aviation stories - There I was......Night IFR as Captain of a Transport Category Airplane on a routine cargo flight, that suddenly became anything but "Routine." We suffered an electrical bus failure which knocked out everything electrical to the right side of the airplane. Avionics, fuel controllers, fire detection, engine monitoring, landing gear, autopilot, and crew communications to list a few, all gone at once. I'm going to discuss - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - of my first hand experience with some Human Factors that made handling this emergency difficult for me and I hope it will help someone else have a better outcome than me if they ever find themselves in a tough situation.
