KMYF - Montgomery Field
In June 2016, a Cirrus SR20 flew from Norman Oklahoma to the busy Houston Class B airspace to land at Hobby Airport (KHOU). Miscommunication in the traffic pattern by pilot and tower controllers, three go-arounds, improper flap retraction, and ultimately, a departure from controlled flight resulted in a fatal crash near KHOU. The Air Safety Institute (ASI) examines the circumstances of this accident and discusses how to recognize and avoid the mistakes that led up to the tragedy. Join Kay Sundaram from STEM Aviation Academy in examining step-by-step the circumstances that led to the tragedy. Obtain valuable lessons learned to help pilots of all experience levels avoid these issues. There will be time for Q&A after the presentation.
