Inadvertent instrument meteorological conditions (IIMC) has been a major factor in fatal accidents for all rotorcraft sectors. While it is a serious threat that must be respected, the good news is that we can make a difference. This session will include an overview of how IIMC has been mitigated in helicopter air ambulance operations. It will provide strategies and techniques that will increase your chances of surviving an IIMC encounter. Data show that this threat exists for every pilot, but real-world experience teaches us that it does not have to involve a fatal encounter. This course is offered at the HAI Rotor Safety Challenge at HELI-EXPO 2024. These sessions are FREE to all HELI-EXPO 2024 registered attendees and exhibitors. Attend at least six Rotor Safety Challenge sessions at HELI-EXPO 2024 and receive a certificate of recognition for completing the 2024 HAI Rotor Safety Challenge.
