EAA Local Chapter 1088 monthly meeting will be held at TacAero Maintenance Hangar at Gillespie County Airport. North end of Runway. Coffee and pancakes start at 8:00 am and the business meeting will begin at 8:30. Members, non-members, pilots, non-pilots, and aviation enthusiasts are welcome. Speaker Hayden NewhouseMr. Newhouse will talk about several antique aircraft. Hayden is a fourth-generation pilot & aircraft mechanic. His great-great-grandfather, a German immigrant, was a dirigible (blimp) & glider designer who started his first powered aircraft design in the late 1800s. This aircraft first flew in 1911, after which he established the Princeton airport in Princeton, New Jersey. Hayden's grandfather started working with American in 1939 on a Stinson Tri motor with wicker seats & retired in 1974, flying the 747 to Tokyo, Japan & Sydney, Australia. Hayden's father was a technical representative for Bombardier Learjet throughout his career & retired a few years ago. Hayden joined TacAero as they were starting a backcountry cub business in Oregon. Over the next five years, he ferried cubs from every corner of the country, ran a full restoration & repair shop & logged just under 3,000 hours in every cub type imaginable. He also traveled to Australia & Africa for maintenance & flying duties. Hayden now serves as the McKnight familys corporate pilot & full-time mechanic, flying & maintaining 16 airplanes, ranging from world-class aerobatic to radial engine antiques.
