Guest Speakers Dr. (Capt) Joelle Thorgrimson and 1st Lt. Ashley Kosturock. Be our guest as a flight surgeon and hurricane hunter share their experiences.Dr. (Capt) Joelle Thorgrimson is an Indigenous military flight surgeonposted to Cold Lake, AB but originally fromKenora, ON. After completing a bachelors degree in astrophysics at Queens University, a masters degree in quantum computing at McGill University and her private pilot license, she attended medical school and completed a family medicine residency at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) in Thunder Bay, ON. She is an advocate for women in aviation, STEM, and the military.G1st Lt. Ashley Kosturock is a pilot for the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron which is a component of the 403rd Wing and flies the WC-130J Super Hercules. The squadron is based in Biloxi, Mississippi and is the only unit in the world that routinely flies weather reconnaissance.
