Thursday, May 2nd @ 6pmPlease join us at the Morristown Airport Terminal Building for a fun and informative evening where you will connect with a wide variety of aviation enthusiasts. All are welcome! You don't need to be a chapter member, or even an EAA member to attend. This month we'll share a casual meal followed by updates on April activities, flight training celebrations, and a look ahead to the Summer. We'll follow that with an aviation related program. For our 'program' this month, Dick Merrill will share some aviation history as he talks with us about Jerrie Mock. Geraldine "Jerrie" Mock was the first woman to fly solo around the world. Born in 1925, Jerrie Mock first flew at five years of age in a Ford TriMotor and became one of the first women aeronautical engineering students at Ohio State University.Flying cross-country with her husband, she enjoyed listening to other pilots on the radio en route to various destinations and she eventually began planning her own flight because she "just wanted to see the world." Joan's departure date and flight path was the same as Amelia Earharts last flight and though not in direct competition with each other, media coverage soon began tracking the progress of each pilot fascinated with who would complete the journey first. This will be a fascinating program about aviation history.Sure hope to see you there!Morristown Regional Airport5233 Old Highway 11EMorristown, TN
