A partnership between the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and Pilots is an important goal for Flight Instructors. This is important for both them and the students they teach. A supportive and safe Flight Training Environment involves productive engagement of Air Traffic Controllers. This CFI/DPE Forum will help broaden the understanding of the resources available to Pilots by Air Traffic Controllers, and increase awareness of how Air Traffic Controllers can support the teaching and learning environment provided by Flight Instructors. This will be a question and answer session, allowing one on one discussions with the Air Traffic Controllers from the Albany Airport. Please bring your questions and be prepared to engage in this partnership; to help support the training environment, and to maximize your clients understanding of how to effectively work with ATC.Possible topics will include but are not limited to the following: Using Air Traffic Control (ATC) for Advisories, Practicing approaches at the Albany Airport, Making Special Requests, like No-Gyro Approaches and Unpublished Holds, Transitioning in and out of Class C Airspace, Working with-in Class D Airspace with Class C in close proximity, Times to Avoid / When is the Albany Tower the Busiest, How to go about Asking Questions about your ATC Clearance, and Requesting local IFR Clearances to Practice IFR, both when VFR and in Actual IMC.
