According to the FAA, loss of control is the leading cause of fatal general aviation accidents, with one fatal aviation accident involving loss of control happening every four days. The discussion will take a closer look at some of the factors that may contribute to loss of control and ways to prevent and avoid those items. Some of these discussion items will include Distractions, Impairment, Weather, Pilot Inexperience, and Lack of Proficiency that lead to Loss of Control. Dan is originally from the South Florida area. He learned to fly at Opa Locka Airport in 1977, and has been a CFII-MEL since 1978. Dan Is a retired United Airlines Captain. At United he flew the Airbus 320, Boeing 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, and 787. He was a ground school and simulator instructor in the B-727 and a QC Line Check Airman on the A-320, B-777, and 787. Dan is currently a Designated Pilot Examiner with authorizations for Private, Commercial, and Instrument ratings and ratings. He is presently awaiting multi-engine authorization.
