Michael Koch, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will be our guest speaker for this one-hour seminar. He will talk about different kinds of weather phenomena impacting aviation operations and the services provided by the National Weather Service. Michael was born on April 11, 1965, the same day as the infamous Palm Sunday tornado outbreak that swept across six Midwestern states, killing 271 people and injuring over 1,500. He grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, and became interested in meteorology after taking an introductory course in the subject. Michael went on to receive his BS degree in Earth and Atmospheric Science from Purdue University in 1993, and has been with the National Weather Service for almost thirty years. He is currently program leader for the Aviation Weather and Fire Weather programs at the Indianapolis office of the National Weather Service. This is a one-hour seminar.
